Selected Posts

While writing ‘Complicit Algorithms of Power’, I assumed that racially bigoted technological results–waved off as ‘glitches’– might be fixed by proper representation within Silicon Valley. ‘Surveilled Glitches’ illustrates that glitches such as these are emblematic of a larger systemic umbrella of issues, explicitly showing the depth of surveillance that advancements in technology tend to bring to communities of color; and that mere representation is not always enough. ‘Benevolent Fixes’ extrapolates on those issues, explaining that historic surveillance and capture practices and ideologies are alive and well, as illustrated through modern policing systems and Electronic Monitoring technologies. Throughout these readings–and these postings–I have only become more impassioned; and I feel that these selections reflect that, both in their unapologetic content, and in their tone.
